Price for Laptop and Tablet Computer in Germany (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average laptop and tablet computer import price amounted to $1,459 per unit, growing by 5.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 7.2% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,633 per unit; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($2,950 per unit), while the price for Poland ($709 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Laptop and Tablet Computer in Germany (FOB) - 2023

The average laptop and tablet computer export price stood at $1,362 per unit in July 2023, with a decrease of -4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 9.7% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,444 per unit in March 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($2,342 per unit), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($193 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Laptop and Tablet Computer in Germany

In 2022, overseas purchases of laptops and palm-top computers decreased by -24.2% to 21M units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 28M units in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.

In value terms, laptop and tablet computer imports shrank to $15.6B in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $17.8B, and then contracted in the following year.

Overall, exports showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 14M units, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, laptop and tablet computer exports shrank dramatically to $6.5B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $7.9B, and then fell markedly in the following year.
