In 2022, the average export price for glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) amounted to $1,802 per ton, surging by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,935 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($2,622 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,395 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild decrease. The import price peaked at $2,797 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($7,464 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,229 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 3.5%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 135K tons, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
In value terms, exports of glass fibres (including glass wool) and articles thereof (eg yarn, woven fabrics) shrank slightly to $192M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 17%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $196M, and then shrank modestly in the following year.
