In 2022, the average export price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses amounted to $1,439 per ton, falling by -2.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 278% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,404 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Central African Republic ($13,467 per ton), while the average price for exports to Senegal ($476 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Congo (+45.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses amounted to $2,820 per ton, dropping by -12.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 33%. The import price peaked at $3,822 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($10,822 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($1,633 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses, when their volume decreased by -22.6% to 318 tons. Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 77%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 411 tons, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, exports of ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses declined significantly to $458K in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 95% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $605K, and then contracted notably in the following year.
