In 2022, the average import price for fish; live, ornamental, other than freshwater amounted to $33,396 per ton, shrinking by -6.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 67% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $35,604 per ton, and then reduced in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($160,638 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($20,649 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sri Lanka (+34.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third consecutive year, Hungary recorded decline in purchases abroad of fish; live, ornamental, other than freshwater, which decreased by -21.4% to 1.1 tons in 2022. In general, imports faced a sharp descent. The smallest decline of -10.5% was in 2020.
In value terms, imports of fish; live, ornamental, other than freshwater fell markedly to $35K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year.
