In 2022, the average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; of stainless steels amounted to $2,420 per ton, rising by 26% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for ferrous waste and scrap; of stainless steels increased by +94.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, shipments abroad of ferrous waste and scrap; of stainless steels decreased by -42.9% to 28K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports saw a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 59%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 50K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.
