Price for Cherry and Sour Cherry in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average cherry and sour cherry import price amounted to $3,427 per ton, falling by -30.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, enjoyed a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 174% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $8,190 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Greece ($4,660 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($985 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Cherry and Sour Cherry in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
The average cherry and sour cherry export price stood at $4,392 per ton in July 2023, dropping by -39.4% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a mild increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, cherry and sour cherry export price decreased by -39.4% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 51% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $8,978 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($6,306 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($3,960 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Cherry and Sour Cherry in the Netherlands
In 2022, imports of cherries and sour cherries into the Netherlands contracted sharply to 9.7K tons, dropping by -29.1% against 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 49%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 14K tons, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
