In December 2023, the average export price for chain and parts thereof, of iron or steel amounted to $12,243 per ton, dropping by -13.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2023 an increase of 24% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $14,195 per ton, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($29,396 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($6,790 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
