The average buttermilk and buttermilk powder import price stood at $1,006 per ton in January 2022, which is down by -17.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2021 an increase of 11% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,367 per ton in January 2021; however, from February 2021 to January 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($1,050 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan stood at $545 per ton.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+0.6%).

The average buttermilk and buttermilk powder export price stood at $1,097 per ton in January 2022, waning by -5.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2021 when the average export price increased by 8.8% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,161 per ton in December 2021, and then reduced in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($1,389 per ton), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($895 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
