In January 2024, the average export price for artificial staple fibres, not carded, combed or otherwise processed for spinning amounted to $1,582 per ton, falling by -3.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a slight decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2023 an increase of 2.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,908 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to January 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In January 2024, the highest price was recorded for prices to Vietnam ($1,901 per ton) and China ($1,812 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($1,407 per ton) and Turkey ($1,433 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,980 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
