Price for Anise, Badian, Fennel and Coriander in Poland (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average import price for anise, badian, fennel and coriander amounted to $1,737 per ton, with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, anise, badian, fennel and coriander import price increased by +25.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($6,930 per ton), while the price for Russia ($859 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average export price for anise, badian, fennel and coriander amounted to $1,843 per ton, with a decrease of -1.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $2,672 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($25,692 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sri Lanka ($678 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+26.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Anise, Badian, Fennel and Coriander in Poland

In 2022, purchases abroad of anise, badian, fennel and coriander decreased by -40.5% to 4.8K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 67% against the previous year.

In value terms, anise, badian, fennel and coriander imports contracted sharply to $8.3M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 54%.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 35% against the previous year.

In value terms, anise, badian, fennel and coriander exports contracted to $9.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +56.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 42% against the previous year.
