The average aluminium waste and scrap export price stood at $1,202 per ton in April 2020, picking up by 14% against the previous month. Over the last three-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +6.4%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In April 2020, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($1,348 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($900 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average aluminium waste and scrap import price stood at $1,784 per ton in 2022, increasing by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, aluminium waste and scrap import price decreased by -32.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 71% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,632 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($2,647 per ton), while the price for Ecuador ($1,277 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Exports of Aluminium Waste and Scrap in Peru

In 2022, approx. 9.7K tons of aluminium waste and scraps were exported from Peru; reducing by -18.1% on the previous year's figure. Overall, exports continue to indicate a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 57%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 12K tons, and then fell markedly in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium waste and scrap exports fell markedly to $14M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 138% against the previous year.
