Price for Aluminium Waste and Scrap in Iran (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average aluminium waste and scrap import price amounted to $864 per ton, increasing by 4.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,332 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($950 per ton), while the price for Tajikistan stood at $679 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average aluminium waste and scrap export price amounted to $1,652 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 21%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,670 per ton, and then declined modestly in the following year.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Turkey.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Turkey amounted to +6.3% per year.

In 2022, the amount of aluminium waste and scraps exported from Iran contracted significantly to 9.7K tons, reducing by -46.8% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 1,461%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 18K tons, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium waste and scrap exports plummeted to $16M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a remarkable increase.
