In 2022, the average import price for alkali metals; other than sodia amounted to $19,500 per ton, surging by 4.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price posted a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 106% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $45,500 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($44,467 per ton), while the price for Italy ($9,700 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
