In 2022, the average import price for alcohols; aromatic alcohols and derivatives, benzyl alcohol amounted to $3,188 per ton, surging by 4.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 34% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $3,844 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($6,950 per ton), while the price for the UK ($2,134 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+11.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
