Plywood Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average plywood export price amounted to $337 per cubic meter, remaining constant against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 4.7% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $434 per cubic meter in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($579 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($280 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (-0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Plywood Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average plywood import price amounted to $2,466 per cubic meter, waning by -34.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, posted noticeable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 361% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $5,883 per cubic meter in April 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($544 per cubic meter), while the price for Paraguay amounted to $267 per cubic meter.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+14.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plywood Exports in Brazil
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of plywood, when their volume decreased by -10.5% to 2.3M cubic meters. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 2.6M cubic meters in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, plywood exports shrank markedly to $948M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 87% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.2B, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

Plywood Imports in Brazil
In 2022, imports of plywood into Brazil declined rapidly to 1.7K cubic meters, with a decrease of -30.1% on 2021. In general, imports, however, posted a perceptible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 105%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.4K cubic meters, and then dropped notably in the following year.
In value terms, plywood imports dropped to $3.9M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +62.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 65% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $4M, and then reduced in the following year.
