Plum and Sloe Price in China (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average plum and sloe import price amounted to $3,609 per ton, growing by 35% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 an increase of 263% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $12,401 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,101 per ton), while the price for Chile amounted to $3,515 per ton.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Plum and Sloe Price in China (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average plum and sloe export price amounted to $1,346 per ton, dropping by -12.2% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, plum and sloe export price decreased by -22.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 70% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,112 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($2,176 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($1,059 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+14.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plum and Sloe Imports in China
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of plums and sloes, when their volume increased by 59% to 104K tons. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, plum and sloe imports soared to $270M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +74.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Plum and Sloe Exports in China
In 2022, exports of plums and sloes from China rose markedly to 39K tons, picking up by 14% on the year before. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 43%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 55K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, plum and sloe exports dropped to $52M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $95M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
