Papaya Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average papaya import price amounted to $3,645 per ton, growing by 3.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price posted a modest expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,769 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($5,055 per ton), while the price for Spain ($3,155 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+18.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Papaya Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average papaya export price amounted to $4,138 per ton, dropping by -14% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 364%. The export price peaked at $5,068 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($4,382 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($3,914 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Papaya Imports in Hungary
In 2022, overseas purchases of papayas decreased by -11.3% to 117 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 132 tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, papaya imports shrank to $428K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 59%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $464K, and then shrank in the following year.
