Non-Cellular Polypropylene Film Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
The average non-cellular polypropylene film import price stood at $3,706 per ton in August 2023, surging by 2.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 5.5% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $4,114 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($5,914 per ton), while the price for Oman ($2,151 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Non-Cellular Polypropylene Film Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average non-cellular polypropylene film export price amounted to $4,102 per ton, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 5.9% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,501 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($6,443 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($527 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Non-cellular polypropylene film imports into the United States totaled 327K tons in 2022, growing by 3.7% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 14%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, non-cellular polypropylene film imports soared to $1.3B in 2022.
