Nickel; Unwrought, Alloys Price in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average nickel; unwrought, alloys import price amounted to $25,012 per ton, falling by -5.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a mild expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, nickel; unwrought, alloys import price decreased by -20.8% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 71% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $31,563 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($41,519 per ton), while the price for Italy ($21,043 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average nickel; unwrought, alloys export price amounted to $20,405 per ton, surging by 48% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $21,239 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($54,989 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland amounted to $18,795 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+9.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Nickel; Unwrought, Alloys Imports in the Czech Republic

In 2022, purchases abroad of nickel; unwrought, alloyses increased by 38% to 914 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep reduction.

In value terms, nickel; unwrought, alloys imports skyrocketed to $18M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
