Mango and Mangosteen Price in China (CIF) - 2023
The average mango and mangosteen import price stood at $2,389 per ton in September 2023, dropping by -9.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 23% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $3,889 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($2,466 per ton), while the price for Thailand amounted to $2,389 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (-2.7%).
Mango and Mangosteen Price in China (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average mango and mangosteen export price amounted to $1,290 per ton, surging by 25% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 57% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,173 per ton. From February 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Russia ($1,470 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($886 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nepal (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Mango and Mangosteen Imports in China
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas increased by 11% to 291K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt contraction.
In value terms, mango and mangosteen imports reduced to $686M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 4.8%.

Mango and Mangosteen Exports in China
In 2022, shipments abroad of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas decreased by -7.1% to 44K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 47%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 51K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mango and mangosteen exports declined dramatically to $66M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 46% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $95M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
