Lentil Price in China (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average lentil import price amounted to $943 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 an increase of 28% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,046 per ton. From August 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($990 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($668 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (-0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Lentil Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average lentil export price stood at $1,680 per ton in June 2023, shrinking by -3.7% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,744 per ton, and then reduced slightly in the following month.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Hungary ($1,913 per ton) and Italy ($1,741 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($1,323 per ton) and Belgium ($1,723 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lentil Imports in China
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of lentils increased by 60% to 26K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Lentil Exports in China
In 2022, approx. 5.1K tons of lentils were exported from China; picking up by 6.6% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt slump.
