Hardboard Price in Belgium (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average hardboard import price amounted to $377 per cubic meter, declining by -16.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2022 an increase of 23% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $556 per cubic meter. From August 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,232 per cubic meter), while the price for France amounted to $333 per cubic meter.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+16.0%).
Hardboard Price in Belgium (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average hardboard export price amounted to $1,567 per cubic meter, reducing by -3.1% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 13% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,617 per cubic meter in May 2023, and then fell modestly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,999 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($581 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Hardboard Imports in Belgium
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of hardboard, when their volume decreased by -19.3% to 452K cubic meters. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 9.4%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at 560K cubic meters in 2021, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, hardboard imports expanded remarkably to $213M in 2022. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.7% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 42%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
