From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of production, amongst the leading producing countries, was attained by Saudi Arabia (with a CAGR of +26.4%), while production for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports

World Imports of Gypsum And Anhydrite

In 2022, purchases abroad of gypsum and anhydrite decreased by -6.4% to 35M tons, falling for the third consecutive year after eight years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Morocco (with a CAGR of +23.6%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest gypsum and anhydrite supplying countries worldwide were Oman ($186M), Thailand ($128M) and Spain ($124M), with a combined 53% share of global exports. Germany, Iran, Canada, Morocco, Mexico, Australia and Cyprus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.
