Glucose Price in Slovakia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average glucose export price amounted to $528 per ton, growing by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a slight descent. The export price peaked at $614 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,133 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($402 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Glucose Price in Slovakia (CIF) - 2023
The average glucose import price stood at $971 per ton in September 2023, surging by 1.9% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a buoyant increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +6.9% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, glucose import price increased by +9.0% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 44% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,082 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($3,650 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($808 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+14.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Glucose Exports in Slovakia
In 2022, approx. 115K tons of glucose and glucose syrup were exported from Slovakia; shrinking by -13% on 2021 figures. Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 10% against the previous year.
In value terms, glucose exports skyrocketed to $61M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Glucose Imports in Slovakia
For the fourth year in a row, Slovakia recorded growth in overseas purchases of glucose and glucose syrup, which increased by 1.1% to 34K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 15%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, glucose imports surged to $18M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
