Fruit and Berry Price in Germany (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average fruit and berry import price amounted to $1,454 per ton, dropping by -3.5% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,507 per ton in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,758 per ton), while the price for Ecuador ($497 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fruit and Berry Price in Germany (FOB) - 2022
The average fruit and berry export price stood at $1,371 per ton in 2022, waning by -2.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 16% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,518 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($2,382 per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($880 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fruit and Berry Imports in Germany
In 2022, purchases abroad of fruits and berries decreased by -6.5% to 5.2M tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 4.2%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 5.7M tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, fruit and berry imports declined to $7.5B in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 17%.

Fruit and Berry Exports in Germany
In 2022, overseas shipments of fruits and berries decreased by -10.7% to 583K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports showed a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 4.7%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 652K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, fruit and berry exports contracted to $799M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 4.1%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $920M, and then shrank in the following year.
