Fructose Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average fructose import price stood at $1,594 per ton in July 2023, waning by -2.6% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a perceptible expansion from August 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.2% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, fructose import price decreased by +0.3% against May 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 29% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,722 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($3,393 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($968 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average fructose export price amounted to $1,804 per ton, jumping by 62% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a resilient expansion from August 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.4% over the last eleven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, fructose export price increased by +62.3% against June 2023 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the UK ($2,247 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($1,158 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Imports in Germany
Fructose imports into Germany reached 232K tons in 2022, surging by 2.2% compared with the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, fructose imports rose notably to $242M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +11.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Fructose Exports in Germany
For the fourth year in a row, Germany recorded growth in overseas shipments of fructose and fructose syrup, which increased by 12% to 145K tons in 2022. In general, total exports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +22.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +83.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 41%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fructose exports surged to $145M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +22.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +83.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
