Frozen Whole Fish Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022
The average frozen whole fish export price stood at $2,309 per ton in March 2022, rising by 8.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2021 an increase of 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in March 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($3,760 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($1,646 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Whole Fish Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022
The average frozen whole fish import price stood at $1,526 per ton in March 2022, declining by -18.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a mild expansion from March 2021 to March 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2022 figures, frozen whole fish import price decreased by -29.1% against January 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2021 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,152 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to March 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Russia ($4,340 per ton), while the price for China ($1,022 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Whole Fish Exports in Indonesia
In 2022, overseas shipments of frozen whole fish decreased by -29.3% to 161K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports saw a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 314K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, frozen whole fish exports fell to $373M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $532M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Frozen Whole Fish Imports in Indonesia
In 2022, purchases abroad of frozen whole fish was finally on the rise to reach 122K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
