Frozen Fish Price in Sri Lanka (FOB) - 2022
The average frozen fish export price stood at $5,237 per ton in 2022, jumping by 91% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. The export price peaked at $8,248 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($11,398 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,022 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fish Price in Sri Lanka (CIF) - 2022
The average frozen fish import price stood at $1,783 per ton in 2022, waning by -25.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 80% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,494 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Maldives ($5,807 per ton), while the price for Yemen ($850 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+12.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fish Exports in Sri Lanka
Frozen fish exports from Sri Lanka skyrocketed to 17K tons in 2022, picking up by 132% compared with 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, frozen fish exports surged to $91M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted a significant expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Frozen Fish Imports in Sri Lanka
