Fibreboard Price in Italy (CIF) - 2022
The average fibreboard import price stood at $556 per cubic meter in 2022, growing by 21% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($1,120 per cubic meter), while the price for Romania ($456 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fibreboard Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022
The average fibreboard export price stood at $828 per cubic meter in 2022, jumping by 22% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, fibreboard export price increased by +6.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 34% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,197 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($422 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+9.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fibreboard Imports in Italy
In 2022, approx. 1M cubic meters of fibreboard were imported into Italy; growing by 49% against 2021 figures. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fibreboard imports soared to $572M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Fibreboard Exports in Italy
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of fibreboard, when their volume decreased by -19.8% to 218K cubic meters. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 76%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 272K cubic meters in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
In value terms, fibreboard exports dropped to $181M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 48%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $185M, and then declined modestly in the following year.
