Fiberboard Price in Kenya (CIF) - 2022

The average fiberboard import price stood at $88 per cubic meter in 2022, reducing by -3.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 16% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $111 per cubic meter. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($115 per cubic meter), while the price for Malaysia ($56 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Fiberboard Price in Kenya (FOB) - 2022

The average fiberboard export price stood at $112 per cubic meter in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 32%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $115 per cubic meter. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($134 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($81 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uganda (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Fiberboard Imports in Kenya

In 2022, supplies from abroad of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials increased by 10% to 217K cubic meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. Imports peaked at 267K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fiberboard imports amounted to $19M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $23M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Fiberboard Exports in Kenya

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials, when their volume decreased by -11.8% to 36K cubic meters. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +38.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 41K cubic meters, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, fiberboard exports dropped to $4M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +35.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $4.5M, and then reduced in the following year.
