Ferro-Silicon Price in Norway (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average ferro-silicon export price amounted to $2,096 per ton, with a decrease of -2.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $3,040 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was India ($2,678 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($938 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Ferro-Silicon Price in Norway (CIF) - 2023
The average ferro-silicon import price stood at $1,986 per ton in September 2023, growing by 3.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 92% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,704 per ton. From January 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,415 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan totaled $1,281 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Ferro-Silicon Exports in Norway
In 2022, ferro-silicon exports from Norway totaled 255K tons, increasing by 2.3% against 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 33%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 265K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, ferro-silicon exports soared to $792M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a significant increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
