The average expanded metal import price stood at $893 per ton in 2022, reducing by -5.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 44%. The import price peaked at $1,775 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($4,092 per ton), while the price for Russia amounted to $832 per ton.

Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 6.4%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.3K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, expanded metal imports fell rapidly to $851K in 2022.
