Dry Peas Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
The average dry peas import price stood at $383 per ton in June 2023, reducing by -5.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 20% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $651 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Canada ($560 per ton), while the price for Russia ($363 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Dry Peas Price in Italy (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average dry peas export price amounted to $1,287 per ton, with a decrease of -9% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated temperate growth from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, dry peas export price decreased by -32.1% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 37% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,955 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($13,076 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($820 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+29.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dry Peas Imports in Italy
In 2022, overseas purchases of peas (dry) decreased by -28.9% to 164K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated slight growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 27%.
In value terms, dry peas imports reduced to $76M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.0% over the last three years.
