Clementines Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023

The average clementines import price stood at $1,165 per ton in July 2023, waning by -33.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 148% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,874 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($2,011 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($721 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Clementines Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022

The average clementines export price stood at $1,025 per ton in 2022, falling by -5.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +7.5%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 15%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,082 per ton, and then shrank in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($1,920 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($760 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+12.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Clementines Imports in Italy

In 2022, supplies from abroad of fruit, edible decreased by -17.3% to 48K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports saw a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 79K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, clementines imports declined dramatically to $55M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 48%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $93M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Clementines Exports in Italy

After two years of decline, shipments abroad of fruit, edible increased by 17% to 50K tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a mild descent.

In value terms, clementines exports rose remarkably to $51M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
