Citrus Fruit Price in Costa Rica (CIF) - 2022
The average citrus fruit import price stood at $1,009 per ton in 2022, increasing by 1.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 51%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($3,970 per ton), while the price for Nicaragua ($786 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by El Salvador (+18.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average citrus fruit export price stood at $254 per ton in 2022, dropping by -38.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 145% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $863 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
