Chocolate Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
The average chocolate export price stood at $2,857 per ton in January 2022, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2021 an increase of 12% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,964 per ton. From November 2021 to January 2022, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($3,960 per ton), while the average price for exports to Tajikistan ($2,402 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Georgia (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chocolate Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
In January 2022, the average chocolate import price amounted to $4,630 per ton, growing by 5.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2021 when the average import price increased by 16% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,888 per ton. From October 2021 to January 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($8,258 per ton), while the price for Kazakhstan ($2,630 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Armenia (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chocolate Exports in Russia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of chocolate and cocoa products, when their volume decreased by -4.4% to 310K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 11% against the previous year.
In value terms, chocolate exports contracted to $799M in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 19%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $869M, and then shrank in the following year.
