The average chlorides; of magnesium export price stood at $222 per ton in 2022, reducing by -14.2% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, chlorides; of magnesium export price decreased by -14.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $260 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,920 per ton in 2021, and then plummeted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($10,648 per ton), while the price for Israel ($443 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, overseas shipments of chlorides; of magnesia decreased by -17.3% to 153K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports showed a slight downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 20%.
