Beer Price in Croatia (CIF) - 2023
The average beer import price stood at $677 per thousand litres in July 2023, falling by -14.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 41% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $794 per thousand litres in June 2023, and then contracted in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($2.0 per litre), while the price for Slovenia ($490 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+10.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beer Price in Croatia (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average beer export price amounted to $667 per thousand litres, picking up by 3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 15% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $679 per thousand litres in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Bosnia and Herzegovina ($687 per thousand litres) and Hungary ($624 per thousand litres), while the average price for exports to Germany ($574 per thousand litres) and Slovenia ($618 per thousand litres) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovenia (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beer Imports in Croatia
Beer imports into Croatia contracted to 104M litres in 2022, with a decrease of -11.9% against the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 21%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 118M litres, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, beer imports contracted to $56M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $63M, and then fell in the following year.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +73.8% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
