Asparagus Price in Oman (CIF) - 2022
The average asparagus import price stood at $6,263 per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price posted a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 54%. The import price peaked at $7,027 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($8,302 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($392 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Asparagus Price in Oman (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average asparagus export price amounted to $1,253 per ton, reducing by -20.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 2.9% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,098 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($4,071 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates stood at $740 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+4.1%).
Asparagus Imports in Oman
In 2022, approx. 31 tons of asparagus were imported into Oman; with a decrease of -21% on 2021. In general, imports recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 39 tons, and then fell notably in the following year.
In value terms, asparagus imports fell dramatically to $193K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 69% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $243K, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

Asparagus Exports in Oman
For the fourth year in a row, Oman recorded growth in overseas shipments of asparagus, which increased by 9% to 182 kg in 2022. In general, exports enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 98%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, asparagus exports dropped to $228 in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 56% against the previous year.
