Artificial Graphite Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022

The average artificial graphite import price stood at $10,890 per ton in 2022, surging by 59% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 356%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($199,293 per ton), while the price for China ($5,497 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+47.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Artificial Graphite Imports in Uganda

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of artificial graphite, when their volume decreased by -65.7% to 2.1 tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 129%.

In value terms, artificial graphite imports declined notably to $23K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 126% against the previous year.
