Artificial Graphite Price in South Korea (CIF) - 2022
In December 2022, the average artificial graphite import price amounted to $4,815 per ton, growing by 13% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 28% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $5,159 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to December 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($12,625 per ton), while the price for China ($4,318 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In December 2022, the average artificial graphite export price amounted to $7,631 per ton, declining by -5.9% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $8,113 per ton in November 2022, and then declined in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($12,957 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($3,660 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of artificial graphite decreased by -0.8% to 24K tons in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +18.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +64.9% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 64% against the previous year.
In value terms, artificial graphite exports contracted to $154M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +64.5% against 2019 indices.
