Apricot Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average apricot export price amounted to $1,736 per ton, falling by -20.2% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,346 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($2,712 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($1,074 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apricot Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
The average apricot import price stood at $1,694 per ton in June 2023, declining by -24.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 632% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,468 per ton. From December 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,940 per ton), while the price for France ($1,007 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Apricot Exports in Italy
Apricot exports from Italy skyrocketed to 50K tons in 2022, growing by 58% against the previous year's figure. Overall, exports showed a modest increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 81%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, apricot exports surged to $87M in 2022. In general, exports recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 90%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
