Apple Price in Cameroon (CIF) - 2022
The average apple import price stood at $753 per ton in 2022, reducing by -2% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 20%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,080 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($757 per ton), while the price for South Africa totaled $752 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (-0.3%).
Apple Price in Cameroon (FOB) - 2022
The average apple export price stood at $1,193 per ton in 2022, picking up by 2.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,421 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Central African Republic ($1,270 per ton), while the average price for exports to Chad ($922 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Apple Imports in Cameroon
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of apples decreased by -14.8% to 10K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +38.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 42% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 12K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, apple imports reduced remarkably to $7.6M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +42.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 49% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $9.1M, and then declined significantly in the following year.

Apple Exports in Cameroon
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of apples decreased by less than 0.1% to 505 tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 174% against the previous year.
In value terms, apple exports stood at $602K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 179% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $618K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
