Imports of UK Central Heating Radiators Without Electricity Decrease by 6% to $355M in 2023

United Kingdom Non-Electric Central Heating Radiator Imports

Non-electric central heating radiator imports into the UK rose modestly to 140M units in 2023, picking up by 2.8% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2013 to 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 35%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 178M units. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-electric central heating radiator imports dropped to $355M (IndexBox estimates) in 2023. In general, total imports indicated moderate growth from 2013 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports decreased by -25.2% against 2021 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 63%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $474M. Imports by Country

In 2023, Turkey (93M units) constituted the largest non-electric central heating radiator supplier to the UK, accounting for a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, non-electric central heating radiator imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (34M units), threefold. Poland (5.4M units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.9% share.

From 2013 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Turkey totaled +2.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+15.1% per year) and Poland (-2.7% per year).

In value terms, Turkey ($199M) constituted the largest supplier of radiators for central heating (not electrically heated) to the UK, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($93M), with a 26% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 5.2% share.

From 2013 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of value from Turkey amounted to +3.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+10.8% per year) and Germany (-4.4% per year).

In 2023, non-electric iron or steel central heating radiators other than of cast iron (138M units) was the main type of radiators for central heating (not electrically heated) supplied to the UK, with a 99% share of total imports. It was followed by non-electric iron or steel central heating radiators of cast iron (2.1M units), with a 1.5% share of total imports.

From 2013 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of the volume of non-electric iron or steel central heating radiators other than of cast iron imports totaled +2.0%.

In value terms, non-electric iron or steel central heating radiators other than of cast iron ($327M) constituted the largest type of radiators for central heating (not electrically heated) supplied to the UK, comprising 92% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by non-electric iron or steel central heating radiators of cast iron ($28M), with a 7.9% share of total imports.

Import Prices by Country

In 2023, the non-electric central heating radiator price stood at $2.5 per unit (CIF, United Kingdom), shrinking by -8.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 21% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $2.8 per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($6.1 per unit), while the price for Turkey ($2.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
