Silk Yarn Exports

Exports

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of silk yarn and yarn spun from silk waste decreased by X% to X tons in 2023. Over the period under review, exports saw a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X%. The global exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, silk yarn exports rose notably to $X in 2023. Overall, exports continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2022 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

China represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which finished at X% of total exports. Romania (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Vietnam (X%) and Italy (X%). Brazil (X tons), Slovenia (X tons) and India (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to silk yarn exports from China stood at X%. At the same time, Slovenia (X%) and Romania (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovenia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Italy (X%), Vietnam (X%) and Brazil (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In 2023, the average silk yarn export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2023, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports by Country

Italy was the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which accounted for X% of total imports. Japan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an X% share, followed by Nigeria (X%) and India (X%).
