In 2023, shipments abroad of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments decreased by X% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a five-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2022, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

In value terms, exports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments shrank to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2022, and then shrank in the following year.

Exports by Country

Bangladesh dominates garments structure, reaching X units, which was near X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Sri Lanka (X units), constituting a X% share of total exports. India (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Bangladesh was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-woven, felt and coated textile garments exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Sri Lanka (X%) and India (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Bangladesh (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Sri Lanka and India saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively.

In value terms, Bangladesh ($X) remains the largest non-woven, felt and coated textile garment supplier in Southern Asia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

In Bangladesh, exports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (X% per year) and Sri Lanka (X% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nepal ($X per unit), while Bangladesh ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
