Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2023, shipments abroad of granules, chippings and powder of marble decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Total exports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2022, and then declined notably in the following year.
In value terms, marble granules and powder exports fell slightly to $X in 2023. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports increased by X% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2022, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports by Country
Mexico was the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Colombia (X tons), committing a X% share of total exports. Argentina (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Mexico experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of granules, chippings and powder of marble. At the same time, Argentina (X%) and Colombia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. While the share of Colombia (X p.p.) and Argentina (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2023, the share of Mexico (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest marble granules and powder supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Colombia ($X), with a X% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2023, the average annual growth rate of value in Mexico totaled X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Colombia (X% per year) and Argentina (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2023, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the last eleven-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2023 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($X per ton), while Mexico ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
Marble granules and powder imports fell notably to X tons in 2023, which is down by X% on the year before. Overall, imports continue to indicate a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then plummeted in the following year.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to marble granules and powder imports into Brazil stood at X%. At the same time, Peru (X%), the Dominican Republic (X%), Venezuela (X%), Mexico (X%) and Ecuador (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Peru emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Chile (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Among the main importing countries, Peru, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2023, the import price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per ton, increasing by X% against the previous year. Import price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, marble granules and powder import price increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by X%. The level of import peaked in 2023 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
