Exports in CIS

After three years of decline, shipments abroad of tungsten halogen lamps increased by 6.8% to X units in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 90% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, tungsten halogen lamp exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted modest growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 127%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Belarus (X units) and Russia (X units) dominates exports structure, together committing 98% of total exports. Kazakhstan (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +11.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest tungsten halogen lamp supplier in the CIS, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with an 11% share of total exports.

In Russia, tungsten halogen lamp exports expanded at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (-13.2% per year) and Kazakhstan (-8.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 29%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of tungsten halogen lamps increased by 12% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, saw a mild reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 81%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, tungsten halogen lamp imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 80% of total imports in 2021. Belarus (X units) held an 8.4% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (6.8%). Kyrgyzstan (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to tungsten halogen lamp imports into Russia stood at -2.8%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+14.9%) and Belarus (+7.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +14.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-1.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan increased by +4.7 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at -4.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+2.7% per year) and Belarus (-3.3% per year).

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, rising by 6.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 29% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
