Vanilla Exports

Exports in Asia-Pacific

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of vanilla decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, vanilla exports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Papua New Guinea (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the key exporters of vanilla in 2022, finishing at near X% and X% of total exports, respectively. China (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Australia (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Thailand (X tons) and New Zealand (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, vanilla imports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a strong increase.
