Exports in Asia
In 2022, overseas shipments of buckwheat were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, buckwheat exports reached $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
China (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) dominates exports structure, together generating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), generating a X% share of total exports. Mongolia (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Mongolia (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest buckwheat supplying countries in Asia were China ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and India ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports. Mongolia and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.
Among the main exporting countries, Mongolia, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
